Drapac Pat’s Veg Looks Forward To Amy’s Otway Tour

Drapac Pat’s Veg is looking to dominate at this weekend’s Amy’s Otway Tour, hoping to regain the momentum created after the National Road Series Tour of the Great South Coast.

Team Captain Oliver Kent-Spark is excited to get back into race mode after suffering from a broken collarbone at the Tour of the Great South Coast in July; unfortunately missing the rest of that Tour and the subsequent Tour of the King Valley.

“Having several riders who can climb with the best in the NRS, we have a great chance of taking out this race. The demanding course will be impacted by the weather conditions, and so with this in mind, riding as a unit will be key to success on the day”, said Kent-Spark.

This year is the Amy’s Otway Tour’s NRS debut. Much of the team will also be racing for their first time on the winding and hilly roads of Lorne and surrounding areas. The Tour starts with an hour long Criterium on Saturday afternoon, before finishing with a 120.6-kilometre road race on Sunday.

Current U23 National Road Series leader Mathew Ross is also looking forward to the new addition to the NRS calendar. Mathew is also 3rd overall, with his teammate Brad Evans sitting above him in 2nd, and another Drapac Pat’s Veg teammate Liam White sitting just below him in 4th. Said Ross, “Racing over the past few NRS races has been extremely competitive in all aspects. Holding on to the U23 NRS lead has been challenging and I’m looking forward to retaining it by competing at Amy’s this weekend”.

Sports Director Mark O’Brien believes that this weekend is going to be a successful one for the team. “The course is great for an aggressive style of racing, which all of the boys are capable of. I hope that we can make the racing hard, which will give us our best possible chance of a win. I’m confident in the team’s form that they will keep our current momentum building, and put in another terrific performance”.

Drapac Pat’s Veg is proud to be participating in Amy’s Otway Tour and welcomes the additional safety precautions surrounding the event.
