Exciting Changes to the 2018 National Road Series

The Drapac Pat’s Veg Holistic Development team is eagerly anticipating the planned changes to the National Road Series (NRS) calendar for 2018.

The revised schedule for 2018 means that no NRS racing will occur during the University exam period.

A Drapac Pat’s Veg Holistic Development team requirement is that each rider must be engaged in a tertiary education course or similar approved institution. The new changes to the NRS dates, as well as Federation University coming on board as a major sponsor to the 2018 Australian National Road Championships, indicate that the support for holistic development is starting to take shape on a broader scale.

Drapac Pat’s Veg enjoyed much success at the beginning of this year’s series, with Mathew Ross coming in 2nd at the Grafton to Inverell, and the team winning the Tour of the Great South Coast, before ending the season in a disappointing 5th place.

The team was unable to field a full team at the Tour of Gippsland, nor any team at the Battle Recharged and the Tour of Tasmania due to them being run during university exam periods or other university commitments.

“I am very pleased with the new changes, which go a long way in supporting our riders and their off-the-bike pursuits”, said Michael Drapac, team owner. “I believe that Cycling Australia is taking the National Road Series in the right direction; the decision to reschedule the Warnie is a very progressive and positive decision by Cycling Australia, notwithstanding there will not be a 2018 running of the event”.

Drapac will be announcing their team name and roster for 2018 in the coming weeks.
