Drapac Cycling announces 9-man squad for 2019.

Drapac Cycling has announced a new name along with its 9-man squad for the 2019 season.

The team will be known as the Drapac-Cannondale Holistic Development Team, and will be retaining several of its 2018 riders, including Federation University’s sportsperson of the year, Liam White. Joining him from the 2018 squad will be Liam Magennis, Theodore Yates, Patrick Burt and Thomas Kaesler.

White, who is studying exercise and sports science at Federation University, won the University’s 2018 Sportsperson of the Year said, “I am really looking forward to once again being a part of the Drapac-Cannondale family for another year. I really enjoy our holistic approach to studying and racing and there is no better way than kicking of the 2019 than in my home town of Ballarat racing around the campus that I study at. The Fed Uni Road Nationals is always a vibrant time and I can’t wait to be a part of showcasing the new team”.

Returning rider Liam Magennis had a standout 2018, with a Tour of Mansfield win, the Tour of Korea young rider’s jersey win, an NRS stage win, and a win and a third place at the World University Games time-trial and road race.

New riders set to join the team are Oliver Martin and Ryan Thomas from Rabble Continental Cycling Team, Thomas Bolton from Oliver’s Racing, and Victorian youngster Jensen Plowright.

Said Oliver Martin on his new team, “The team has had some really good results in 2018 and I’m keen to help build on those results in the 2019 season, we have a strong diverse team and I think we will be able to have a real impact on race day”.

Speaking about the upcoming season, Sport Director Agostino Giramondo said, “2019 should be an interesting year and I am confident that baring illnesses and injury we will achieve victories in both NRS and UCI events. We have a relatively young team, but the recent training camp showed that the team vibe is good and that’s what a team needs to achieve results”.

In 2019 the team will be known as the Drapac-Cannondale Holistic Development Team. The team is also proud to announce a new clothing partnership with Rapha Custom for 2019. They will also be racing on the new Cannondale System Six, with SRAM E-tap groupsets, and Vision wheels. The team will also be continuing its partnership with POC for helmets and eyewear.

The Drapac-Cannondale Holistic Development team will be debuting at the Federation University Road National Championships, beginning on January 4th in Ballarat and will be looking to potentially recruit any unsigned talent for the rest of the 2019 season.
